I'm a huge action/martial arts film fan, which is what I hoped to capture in the feel of these Iron Fist vs. Elektra samples for Marvel. It just has the feel of one of those old school martial arts films, where two great warriors face off one on one against each other. I hope you guys enjoy it, cause I know I did.

Wow you have alot of professional work here. Amazingly good dude! You use 11x17 cardstock, yeah? I'm hopeing to use some of that eventually once I get into my new room. I've got a scanner big enough to scan that size too but I don't have as many options as I would've liked for it. Not much option as far as DPI resolution.
Your shadowing is something I was thinking about doing as well if I had more room to experiment.
Oh, I'm the dude doing the comic on the SF mag right now. Saw your comment over on the SFM Blogspot and wanted to check you out, haha. Gotta ask, how long does it take you to do a page? And I'm guessing your working professionally, right?

Hey there fire-tisane, thanks for the nice words about my artwork, it's greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I draw on 11"x17" cardstock art boards. I'm lucky that I have a scanner that can scan it in, only 3 pieces and I put it back together on Photoshop after I'm done. It's really quick.

For a while I stopped dropping shadows, so I couldn't hide things in shadow like I used to. So I was forced to draw things open and had to draw them and couldn't cheat it anymore. Once I got to where I felt like I wasn't cheating it anymore, I started to put shadows back into my work again.

Depending on how complicated the page is, it could take me a day to two-three days to finish a page, if there's a lot going on. Kind of working professionally, but it never hurts to try to get more exposure and plus I love Street Fighter.

Thanks for checking out my stuff.

No problem dude. I love checking out peoples work and giving my two cents. I'd like to see them a bit bigger because the small size takes away all the small details!

11x17 is probably the best because it gives you a ton of room to play with all the small details in a drawing. But all that extra size comes in with some extra work to actually finish. I can see how it would take two to three days dude. The way I'm thinking, if I ever were to do this as a pro, I'd have to churn out at least a page a day in order to meet deadline before the end of the month. If I was doing a maxi-series that is. If I was only doing 12 comics or something, I'd probably have a comic or two stored away and then start putting them out once a month while still working on the rest of the comics.

I can see what you mean. That gives me an amazing idea. I love the way sometimes the shadow on a figure takes away all the detail on the inside. I should really try that! Maybe for issue 3 if I find an inker. I'll start laying down shadows to play with. But I get what you're saying. Sometimes you get so used to hiding something in the shadows and when you get to the point that you can't, you're stuck! Trying to redraw the same thing over and over because you didn't practice it before really stinks. Kudo's dude for figuring that out before it was too late!
