To be honest, those objects that Hal creates with his power ring to pin Darkseid up against the wall; I have no idea what they are to be honest, lol.

I think originally they were supposed to be crocket brackets or something like that.

And poor Kyle, getting one of the worst backhanded slaps in history.

They look like over sized staples...lol. Kyle had a cool costume, but seemed to end up just being a DC tool.

lol, yeah they kind of look like giant staples, but to be honest they're actually crochet brackets you have to hit the ball through, lol.

Yeah, Kyle does have a cool costume, but as for him being a DC tool, that's not necessarily true. He's a cool character, and relate able to us since he's a lot more creative and imaginative.
